Ekram Haque is an Islamic instructor, author, and journalist, and the author of six books:

He holds a master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a master’s in International Relations from the University of Karachi. He has studied the Islamic sciences with Shaykh Abul Yosr Mohamed Baianonie, former imam of the Islamic Center of Raleigh, NC; Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, Dean of Academic Affairs at the Islamic Seminary of America; and Dr. Jonathan Brown, Alwaleed bin Talal Chair of Islamic Civilization at Georgetown University.

His articles have appeared in The Dallas Morning News, The News & Observer, The Denver Post, Newsday, and The Asbury Park Press. He speaks regularly at the Sachse Muslim Society, travels nationally for lectures and book events, and publishes on his YouTube channel, One Humanity Under God.

Heart to Heart

The one thing every human being holds in common is our humanity. That alone should be reason enough to acknowledge one another — and, where we can, to help one another.

We follow different religions, but we share a single lineage through Adam and Eve. Some honor that kinship through kindness. Many do not. They treat those unlike themselves as less than human — unworthy of dignity, deserving of subjugation.

Those of us who profess belief in God have too often been the worst offenders. Religious pride and a sense of superiority have kept us in conflict with our neighbors rather than at peace with them.

Muslims, Christians, and Jews together make up more than half of humanity, and all three trace their spiritual ancestry to Prophet Abraham. There will be no real peace in this world without some basic understanding and accommodation among them. Whatever we fail to repair, we hand to those who come after us.

That conviction is why I write. My books are an attempt to open honest, unforced conversation between Christians, Muslims, and Jews — not to erase our differences, but to make room for them. If we can accept one another and agree to live together, everyone gains. If we cannot, the spiral of conflict, fear, and distrust simply continues.
